Monday morning we came back from Dharamsala and once again this was an awesome trip. After a tough 12 hour bus ride we arrived in Dharamsala and then it was another short bus ride to reach McLeod Ganj, the actual place of the exile Tibetan Government. A lot of exile Tibetans live there and you can feel that this is a completely different culture and attitude in comparison to the Indian culture. The Tibetans are really calm and not as hasty as the Indians. I felt relaxed by just seeing one of those monks walking by! And of course there is an incredible landscape surrounding McLeod Ganj. Everyone of us thought immediately, 'oh we could spend at least a week here'. But we only had a little more than a day so we tried to see as much as possible. We walked around the town, saw two temples, visited a Tibetan museum, took part in a Momo (specialty from Tibet) cooking class and coincidently met someone from one of the trainee houses in Delhi. This guy was coming from Amritsar and he was really lucky: He got to meet the Dalai Lama! He got lost in the town and the first person he talked to was the personal security guard of the Dalai Lama! Everyone can try to get an audience with the Dalai Lama but usually you have to wait for months.
So with a lot of impressions and a relaxed Tibetan attitude we didn't even mind the 12 hour bus ride back.
When Thea and me travel together after my internship, I'll definitely come back to this amazing place...and if you don't hear from us in September we probably stayed there and became monks :-D.
